Keksi — Sooma's visual partner for busy times

We delivered one carefully planned and optimally scheduled shoot day for Sooma Medical. We took care of photography and videography with everyday models, props, location scouting, styling, makeup and all necessary post-production work.

What is Sooma all about, Laura Pulkkinen, Growth Director of Sooma?

"In collaboration with leading experts in psychiatry and neurophysiology, Sooma has developed safe, medication-free alternatives for treating depression and chronic pain, making them available to patients worldwide. Sooma Medical has been transforming healthcare with brain stimulation therapies for over a decade."

What did you need, where did you start?

"We do marketing with a small team, and the brand renewal created a lot of work. We needed help with photo and video production to execute materials with quality and on schedule. Keksi quickly provided a clear quote and timelines, which made the decision easy. The project launched smoothly."

Production goals? Were they met?

"The goal was to photograph our product in home and clinic settings and produce new, stylish instructional videos for customers. The materials were completed quickly and were excellent in quality — exactly what we needed. Keksi communicated clearly about what they do and what they need from us. This significantly eased shoot preparations and made the collaboration straightforward."

How did the actual shoot day go from your perspective?

"The shoot day was efficient and pleasant. Keksi handled everything according to plan, and our role was mainly to observe and make requests as needed. For the instructional video, our team briefed the photographer and model throughout the day during breaks, so we could start the actual filming efficiently at the end of the day without unnecessary delays. Everything went even more smoothly than we expected."

The subject isn't exactly easy or light — what specifically needed attention in the shoot?

"The most challenging part was directing the models' expressions. A depression or chronic pain patient's mood isn't necessarily very positive, but we still wanted to convey hope through the images and communicate that quality of life improves with treatment. Keksi understood our perspective immediately and executed the shoot accordingly. We could monitor the images being taken throughout and provide feedback when needed, which ensured the result met our expectations."

What was most important to you regarding Keksi's models in the images?

"The models were excellent, and the casting process went quickly because Keksi had made well-considered pre-selections. It was important to us that the models represented diversity and were relatable, whether portraying a patient, nurse or doctor."

Internationality is at the heart of your business. How did it affect the shoot? Did the result meet your international needs?

"Internationality was an important perspective for us throughout the process. Because our target audiences are in different parts of the world and the videos are presented in multiple languages, we decided to leave out speech and add subtitles in different languages afterwards. This solution worked extremely well and the execution was smooth."

How do you see Sooma's future?

"Sooma does important work, and the problem we're solving is significant. In Finland, we've already established our position as a first-line treatment for depression, making our therapy available to thousands of people. Our goal is to expand to the same position in other countries as well. Additionally, our therapy has proven effective in pain management, and we believe we can help even more people feel better."

You had many needs for one shoot day, and something had to be cut. Do you still feel you got value for money?

"Absolutely."

What kind of organizations would you recommend Keksi to?

"Keksi isn't just a creative and visually skilled partner, but also excellent at project management. It was great that they communicated clearly what we needed to do and when. In a busy schedule, this kind of partner is invaluable."
